Social Media Strategy Starter Guide
Because “just posting” isn’t a strategy.
Start with Strategy.
In Field of Dreams, they say, "If you build it, they will come." Imagine how quickly they will come if you build it properly!
Know What You’re Actually Trying to Do
Step 1
Before you post anything, answer this:
What is your goal?
Pick one (yes, one):
• Get more leads
• Build brand awareness
• Educate your audience
• Drive traffic to your website
• Position yourself as an expert
If your goal is “everything”… it’s actually nothing.
Define Your Audience (No, Not “Everyone”)
Step 2
f you’re talking to everyone, you’re connecting with no one.
Ask yourself:
• Who are they?
• What do they care about?
• What are they struggling with?
• Why should they listen to you?
Pro Tip:
Your content should make your audience feel like you’re reading their mind.
Pick Your Platforms (You Don’t Need Them All)
Step 3
You do NOT need to be everywhere.
Choose 1–2 platforms where your audience actually spends time:
• Instagram → visual, lifestyle, storytelling
• LinkedIn → professional, insights, authority
• Facebook → community, local engagement
• TikTok → short-form, personality, trends
Better to show up consistently in one place than disappear in five.
Build Your Content Pillars
Step 4
This is where strategy actually starts to look like something.
Pick 3–5 content types you’ll rotate through:
• Educational (tips, insights)
• Authority (your expertise)
• Behind-the-scenes (real life, real work)
• Engagement (questions, opinions)
• Conversion (offers, services)
If every post is a sales post… we have a problem.
Create a Simple Posting Plan
Step 5
No, you don’t need a 47-tab spreadsheet.
Start here:
• 2–4 posts per week
• Mix your content pillars
• Stay consistent
Example:
Monday → Tip
Wednesday → Behind the scenes
Friday → Authority
Sunday → Light engagement
Consistency beats perfection. Every time.
Stop Making It About You
Step 6
Your audience doesn’t care about your business the way you do (sorry 😅).
They care about:
• their problems
• their goals
• their wins
Your content should answer:
👉 “Why does this matter to them?”
Engagement Isn’t Optional
Step 7
Posting and ghosting isn’t a strategy.
If someone comments: reply
If someone messages: respond
If you see your audience: engage
👉 Social media is a two-way conversation.
Let AI Help — But Don’t Let It Take Over
Step 8
AI can:
✔ Help you brainstorm
✔ Speed up captions
✔ Generate ideas
But it can’t:
✖ Replace your voice
✖ Understand your audience like you do
✖ Build real connection
👉 Use AI as an assistant, not your personality.
Measure What Matters
Step 9
Don’t obsess over likes.
Look at:
• Saves
• Shares
• Comments
• Website clicks
• Leads
